Bojong Renged, July 18, 2025 — A group of students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) from Muhammadiyah University Tangerang, assigned to Bojong Renged Village, Teluknaga Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, have begun implementing an innovative and environmentally friendly program aimed at converting plastic waste into paving blocks.
Today, the students launched the first phase of the project by collecting and painting used water gallon containers. These containers will later be distributed to local residents as collection bins for household plastic waste.
“We noticed that the road leading into the Kampung Tematik area was damaged and full of potholes. That made us think about how to repair it in a more eco-friendly way. We want to educate the community that plastic waste can actually be valuable if managed properly. Today we are starting with a simple step: preparing and painting used gallons,” said the Vice Leader of the Bojong Renged KKN group.
The painted gallon containers will be placed in several strategic locations around residents’ homes, encouraging active community participation in waste separation and collection. The collected plastic waste will later be melted and processed into paving blocks, which are planned to be used for road improvement in the Kampung Tematik area.
This program is part of the Muhammadiyah University’s KKN initiative that began on July 16, 2025, and will run for approximately one month. Through this project, the students hope to make a meaningful contribution to sustainable village development and environmental awareness.
